Ride Across Town to Race Across the Sky
On Thursday February 25th, Specialized and Rebecca Rusch kick off their movie tour of ‘Race Across the Sky’ at 8PM at the Sun Valley Opera House. The film documents the 2009 Leadville 100, a grueling 100-mile, 14,000 foot vertical MTB race in Leadville, CO. Despite sleet storms and stiff headwinds, Rusch ended up on the podium (alongside this guy you might know…I think his name is Lance Armstrong?)— further proof that she’s basically the most bada** female rider out there.
The $10 screening ($5 for kids 12 and under) will benefit the Wood River Bike Coalition, and a free PBR and Red Bull Party at the Perch from 6-7:30 will benefit you. Even better, if you join the WRBC for just $25, you’ll get a free raffle ticket and a chance to win some pretty sweet gear.
Since cyclists tend to be on the enlightened side, we’re expecting you to leave your car (and your emissions) at home in favor of something a little less environmentally hostile. Mountain Fairy and Mountain Rides will both offer solutions for the event— and of course, you can always ride your bike.
To Get There with Mountain Rides: For Hailey and Bellevue residents, the Valley Bus will get you up to the Opera House just before 8. If you’re already in Ketchum or Sun Valley, the Blue Route will bring you up to Baldy View Circle with return service until 11:50PM. Please check our schedule or call us at 788-RIDE for more info.
To Get There and Back with Mountain Fairy: The bright pink van will pick up at the Hailey Park and Ride at 7:00, with stops at Powerhouse (7:05) and East Fork Park and Ride (7:25) on its way to the Opera House. Return transport will be provided to the same stops at the conclusion of the event.
Thanks, as always, for being part of the solution.
